Contracts Awarded for Operation of Labrador Vessels

The Woodward Group of Companies will no longer hold the contract for operating marine services on the north coast of Labrador.

Great Lake Feeder Lines and CAI Marine Inc. have been awarded the contracts to operate the service.

The tender was put out earlier this year.

The Ontario-based Great Lake Feeder Lines will be responsible to operate the MV Dutch Runner.

This vessel will replace the MV Astron.

The MV Dutch Runner is newer and has a greater freight capacity then the MV Astron.

The new vessel will serve the north coast from Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Lewisporte.

CAI Marine Incorporated has received the contract to operate the MV Northern Ranger and MV Sir Robert Bond.

The company holds five-year contracts for the operation of the MV Northern Ranger.

Their contract with the MV Sir Robert Bond lasts three years.
