Hopedale Heritage Festival A Success

The Hopedale Heritage Festival wrapped up over the weekend.

Michael Mitsuk is Hopedale’s Recreation Director.

He says seven teams participated in last weekend’s Ethel Memorial Dog Team Race.

Buddy Morgan finished first in the race.

Second place went to George Voisey.

Voisey also won the best-looking dog team.

Third place was a tie between Herb Pijogge and Perry Voisey.

A Labrathon was also held during the festivities.

The winning team was made up of Danielle Pottle, Richard Winters, Billy Jararuse and Martha Onalik.

Albert Tuglavina took first place in a snow sculpture contest.

Snowmobile races were also planned for the Hopedale heritage Festival but had to be cancelled because of dangerous ice conditions.

Peter Jacobs was also on hand to provide entertainment throughout the week with performances every evening.
