Labrador Inuit Youth Symposium Postponed

The 18th Annual Labrador Inuit Youth Symposium has been postponed until this summer.

Sandra Dicker is the Youth Coordinator for the Nunatsiavut Government.

She says they decided to postpone the symposium so it doesn’t conflict with student’s schooling and exams.

The symposium was originally scheduled to take place in Postville this week.

A new date hasn’t been set yet for the event.

Dicker says they’re arranging a very special presenter for this year’s symposium.

Representatives from the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission will be on hand to discuss uranium mining with the delegates.

Postville, the location for the symposium, has been at the center of uranium exploration in this region.

Dicker says the delegates who were already confirmed for this year’s youth symposium are still confirmed for the new date.

Another call for delegates will be issued for any other youth who may be interested in attending.
