LIDC Base Camp Manager Position Filled

The Labrador Inuit Development Corporation has hired a manager for the Torngat Mountains National Park base camp.

James Thorbourne is the General Manager of LIDC.

He says Wayne Broomfield is the successful candidate.

Broomfield, who is originally from Makkovik, was chosen from over 20 candidates.

The base camp is located in St.John’s Harbour, near Saglek

Broomfield is now receiving training in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

He officially begins his new position on May 2.

His responsibilities will include planning for the season and filling staff positions needed at the camp.

Thorbourne says the base camp is expected to operate from mid-July to late-August or early-September.
