Nunatsiavut Consumers Seeing More Savings at the Pumps

Consumers in Nunatsiavut continue to see more savings at the pumps as gas prices rise throughout the province.

The price of gasoline increased by about one cent per litre across the province today.

Consumers in central Labrador are now paying nearly $1.43 per litre of gasoline.

The price of gasoline in Nunatsiavut remains frozen at about $1.40 a litre.

People on the North coast paid around 21 cents more per litre for gasoline than those in central Labrador without the price freeze in effect.

We would possibly be paying around a $1.64 per litre of gasoline if the price freeze wasn’t in effect.

The price of stove oil also increased today.

Stove oil went up by nearly two and a half cents throughout the province.

The price of stove oil in Nunatsiavut is now just about on par with our central Labrador counterparts who are paying about $1.09 per litre.

Consumers in this region paid an average of 22 cents more per litre of stove oil without the price freeze in effect.

Nunatsiavut consumers would possibly be paying around $1.31 per litre without the price freeze.

This could mean a huge price adjustment for gasoline and stove oil in this region if prices continue to rise.

The price adjustment will be made once fuel supplies are able to be shipped into Nunatsiavut communities.
