Rising Global Fuel Prices Mean More Savings for the North Coast
Consumers on the North coast continue to see more savings as global gas prices keep rising.
The price of gasoline increased by about two cents across the province yesterday.
The price of gasoline is currently frozen at around $1.40 per litre in northern Labrador.
The price freeze came into effect in early-November.
The price of gasoline on the North coast is usually about 21 cents more per litre than that in central Labrador without the price freeze in effect.
The price of gasoline in central Labrador is just about on par with this region at around $1.39 per litre.
That means consumers on the north coast are saving around 20 cents per litre of gasoline.
This is very good news for Nunatsiavut consumers for the time being.
But we may see a huge increase when the price freeze is lifted if global gasoline prices continue to increase.
The price freeze is lifted once new fuel supplies are able to be shipped into the North coast communities.
