Todd Russell May Call a Recount

A recount of last week’s federal election results may be on the horizon following the publication of revised election results.

Elections Canada recently posted revised election results on their website.

The new results show that Conservative Peter Penashue now only leads Liberal Todd Russell with 79 votes.

The initial results showed Penashue leading with 231 votes.

An automatic judicial recount would have been called with a 10 vote margin between the two leading candidates.

The option of calling a recount is still available to Russell.

We contacted Todd Russell in Ottawa Tuesday morning.

He says he’s discussing the recount now.

Russell plans to make a decision by tomorrow.

A request for a recount must be made within four days of the validation of the results.

Russell must request a recount by the close of business day on Thursday.
