A Summer Full of Festivities

Summer is in full swing and that means communities throughout Labrador are preparing for their annual festivals.

There are some big events planned all across the ‘Big Land’.

Labrador Come Home Year kicks off in Upper Lake Melville on Friday.

Labradorians are invited to come home and take part in two weeks of celebrations.

Come Home Year is scheduled to coincide with the North West River Beach Festival and the annual Labrador Canoe Regatta.

Hopedale, Makkovik and Postville will also hold festivals that coincide with the Labrador Come Home Year.

Hopedale’s Rhubarb Festival takes place from July 18-23.

The Trout Festival in Makkovik is scheduled for July 19-23.

Postville will be celebrating ‘Fun in the Sun’ from August 1-12.

If you haven’t had your fill of these celebrations, you can head to Rigolet.

Their Salmon Festival runs from August 2-7.

The summer wraps up with Nain’s Katilautta Music festival which takes place the weekend of August 19.
