Canada Post Staff in Nunatsiavut Not a Part of Current Negotiations

With members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers striking in cities across Canada, many people are wondering if the staff at our Canada Post offices will be hitting the picket line.

The answer is no.

Employees of Canada Post on the North coast of Labrador are represented by the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association.

Members of the CPAA are not currently involved in any negotiations.

The strike action being taken by members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers could have an indirect effect on our postal services.

Their actions could disrupt the flow of mail into our local post offices.

Members of the CUPW in Montreal hit the picket line Sunday night.

They will be striking for a 24-hour period as they have done in other Canadian cities in the last week.

Canada Post is continuing to try and reach an agreement with the union.

They are currently reviewing the latest offer made by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.
