Canadian Union of Postal Workers Begin Strike Action
Members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers in Winnipeg have hit the picket line.
The members officially went on strike Thursday at 11:59 p.m.
The union will continue to pull out workers and rotate the strike in other locations in 24-hour intervals.
The union’s National President, Denis Lemelin, says they started in Winnipeg because that’s the city where new, problematic work methods and machine were first introduced.
The union stated in a press release today that they are still willing to negotiate to put a stop to the strike action.
The union and Canada Post are expected to meet Friday, June 3, for further talks.
