Crews Expected in Hopedale this Week to Repair Waterlines

Crews are expected into Hopedale this week to begin working on the community’s waterline problems.

Seven to nine homes have been left without running water since February because one of the main waterlines had frozen.

Kitu Abel is the Town Clerk for the Hopedale Inuit Community Government.

She says they’re expecting the contractors to arrive the community this week.

Budgell’s Equipment and Rentals holds the contract to carry out the repairs.

The community has been waiting for warmer temperatures to thaw the ground so the work could begin.

Abel expects the crews to be busy because another leak in one the lines in a different area has occurred.
