Delay in Construction of Assembly Building in Hopedale
A construction problem with one of the features of the Nunatsiavut Government Assembly Building may cause a delay in the facility’s grand opening.
Brian Flowers is the Property Manager for the Nunatsiavut Government.
He says the metal roofing being used for the dome of the building isn’t fitting correctly.
Two experts from outside of the country are scheduled to go into Hopedale and examine the problem.
The grand opening of the Assembly Building was scheduled for September 12.
Flowers says it is likely that the opening will not take place on that date.
He adds that the facility as a whole is around 95 percent complete.
There is still painting, plastering, electrical and mechanical work to be completed.
