Funding Announced for North Coast Clinics

There were some big funding announcements for healthcare in Nunatsiavut made by the provincial government this morning.

The government has announced $653,000 for mental healthcare initiatives and healthcare infrastructure.

Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Patty Pottle, was joined by the Minister of Health and Community Services, Jerome Kennedy, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay to make the announcement.

The Minister of Health and Social Development for the Nunatsiavut Government, Patricia Kemuksigak, and Boyd Rowe, the CEO for Labrador-Grenfell Health, were also on hand.

$578,000 of the funding will be used for infrastructure, equipment and renovations to the clinics in Nunatsiavut communities and Natuashish.

The remainder of the funding will be used to support various mental health initiatives.

Tune into Monday’s AtjiKangitut program when Minister Pottle joins us to discuss the funding in detail.
