Future Social Workers Getting First Taste of the Job

Inuit students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work program have begun their first work term.

Sandy Kershaw is the program’s Coordinator.

She says the 19 Nunatsiavut beneficiaries began their first work term this month.

21 different agencies in Upper Lake Melville and along the north coast will be hosting the students.

The program is a joint effort between the Memorial University of Newfoundland and the Nunatsiavut Government.

The students are now in their third year of the program.
