Gas Prices Tumble Yet Again

The price of gasoline has taken yet another tumble as consumers in this region anticipate the lifting of the price freeze.

Gas prices fell by 3.5 to 3.6 cents per litre across the province today.

Consumers in central Labrador are now paying a little over $1.35 per litre of gasoline.

People in Nunatsiavut generally paid around 21 cents more per litre of gasoline than those in central Labrador without the price freeze in effect.

The price has been frozen at nearly $1.40 per litre in this region since November.

We could be potentially paying $1.56 per litre of gasoline if the price freeze was lifted today.

That’s an increase of 16 cents per litre.

The price freeze is lifted once suppliers are able to ship fuels into the communities.

The price freeze was lifted last year on July 15.

Dan Frampton, the Superintendant of Ice Operations with the Canadian Coast Guard, is predicting that the ice will break up this spring around the same time as last year.
