Inuit Remains Returned to Rest at Rose Island
The remains of a number of Inuit are now at peace in their proper resting place at Rose Island, Saglekulluk.
Johannes Lampe, Nunatsiavut’s Minister of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, was on hand for this week’s repatriation ceremony at Rose Island.
Joining the Minster was Nunatsiavut President, Jim Lyall, Premier Dunderdale and the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Patty Pottle.
Minister Lampe says, unfortunately, several of their invited guests weren’t able to make it because of the weather conditions.
He says the ceremony was a moving experience.
Tune into this Sunday’s show on OKalaKatiget Radio when Minister Lampe takes us through the repatriation ceremony.
