Jens Haven Memorial School Grades K-6 Awards

The Jens Haven Memorial Primary School students held their graduation and awards presentations Thursday.

Four students were given awards for perfect attendeance throughout the year.

JHMS Vice-Principal, Juanita Skanes, served as one of the MCs for the event.

She said the students just couldn’t stay away.

The four students were awarded a helicopter ride with Universal Helicopters.

The prize was sponsored by Aivek Holdings.

The newest award, the ‘Samuel Obed Memorial Award’, was presented to Ellen Jararuse.

The award was presented in remembrance of Samuel Obed whose life was cut short last summer in a tragic drowning accident.

It was sponsored by Lindsey and Howard Saunders.

Howard was Obed’s Grade two teacher.

It is given to recognize a student for his or her athletic devotion and sportsmanship.

Jararuse received a plaque and a cash prize of $50.

Her name will also be engraved on the Samuel Obed Memorial Award.

Obed’s father, Richard Haye, presented the award.
