Max Winters Declared Winner of NunaKatiget Chair Election

Max Winters has been determined the winner of Tuesday’s election following a recount of the ballots.

The former Chair of the Inuit Community Corporation received the most votes during the initial count with 205 ballots in his favour.

Roy Blake followed close behind with 199 votes.

Blake called a recount of the results with the slim margin of only six votes.

A recount of the ballots Wednesday afternoon has determined that Max Winters is the newly-elected Chair of NunaKatiget.

Nearly 630 beneficiaries in Happy Valley- Goose Bay and Mud Lake cast their vote in Tuesday’s election.

Janice Edmunds-Connors claimed the third highest number of votes with around 140 ballots in her favour.

She was followed by Sheila Rose-Saunders with 46 votes.

37 votes were cast in favour of Eileen Saunders-Burden.
