Nain Female Firefighter Ready to Battle Blazes
A female firefighter from Nain is ready to battle any future blazes in the community after completing a fire camp for women.
‘Camp Glow’ was offered to female firefighters in this province earlier this month.
Among the attendees was one of the Nain Volunteer Fire Brigade’s newest recruits, Silpa Suarak.
She says the camp gave the participants the opportunity to learn about firefighting through teamwork, problem solving, physical exercise and firefighter training.
She says the week-long camp was tiring, demanding and exciting.
The participants had the chance to use real firefighting equipment under the supervision of active female firefighters.
Other activities included live fire training.
Suarak says she would like to send her gratitude to the Nain Inuit Community Government for covering her expenses.
