Nain Kayaker Hitting the Water with Some Company
Noah Nochasak is setting out on yet another kayak adventure this summer.
But this time he’ll have some company.
Nochasak says he’s being joined by a fellow kayaker, Jerry Kobalenko, and his wife.
Kobalenko is a writer and photographer who specializes in northern adventures.
Nochasak says he wrote to the adventurist for advice and then they started planning an expedition together.
Kobelanko and his wife, Alexandra, arrived in Nain on the Northern Ranger Wednesday.
They’ll be making their way back down the Labrador coast to Rigolet by kayak.
Nochasak will only join the kayakers as far as Voisey’s Bay, 45 kilometres south of Nain.
He’ll make the trip in a kayak he constructed himself out of canvas and wood.
This won’t be the first time that Nochasak will be testing the waters in his homemade vessel.
He travelled from Nain to Natuashish and back last October.
Nochasak says he’s also planning to kayak in the Torngat Mountains later this summer.
He encourages any local kayakers who would like to join him to give him a call.
