National Aboriginal Day Celebrated Throughout Nunatsiavut 

Aboriginal people across Canada are coming together Tuesday to celebrate their rich culture and heritage.

Inuit in Postville will begin their celebrations Tuesday evening at the ball field.

Inuit Games, a traditional baking and cooking contest and a potluck are all planned to mark the occasion.

The community of Makkovik will begin their celebrations with a parade this Tuesday evening.

The parade will be followed by a community barbecue.

Traditional games and storytelling are also planned for the occasion.

Entertainment is being provided by the local band “Search Pardy’ and the local drum dancers.

Nain began their celebrations with an elder’s breakfast Tuesday morning.

A fishing contest is also being held in the community throughout the day.

Entertainment is being provided from a great line up of performers at the ball park Tuesday evening.

A barbecue, Inuit games and a community game of bat are also planned for the celebrations at the ball field.
