NICG Social Club to Assist Families Who Cannot Afford Caskets

Some families are faced with quite a burden when their loved ones pass on and they cannot afford the cost of a casket.

That cost was covered by the Moravian Church in the past.

Volunteers would join Church Elders to construct the caskets themselves.

People within the church have begun to deny the funds for the service in recent years.

Members of the church have cited a lack of donations from the congregation as one of the factors.

People within the Moravian Church also believe it is the family’s responsibility to cover the cost.

The Nain Inuit Community Government’s Social Club has recently stepped in to help alleviate the burden.

The club is now calling on the community to help them.

They are asking community members to donate their recyclables to the NICG.

The funds raised will be used for things such as building caskets for those who cannot afford to do so themselves.

Anybody willing to donate their recyclables can contact the NICG who will arrange for them to be picked up.

The Moravian Church in Nain has already extended their gratitude to the community government for their help.
