President of Air Labrador Addresses Wednesday’s Flight

The President of Air Labrador has addressed Wednesday’s flight when a window detached striking a woman in the face.

President of Air Labrador, Philip Earle, wasn’t in the office Friday but he did speak to the CBC that morning.

Earle told the CBC that he believes the exterior window of the emergency exit came loose and fell out during take-off.

He believes the interior window dislodged after the aircraft became airborne.

Earle goes on to tell the CBC that the cause has not been determined as of this point.

One theory is that the rubber seal lost its elasticity due to the sunlight.

An investigation is being carried out into the matter.

Earle did tell the CBC that there have been cases of a similar nature with Twin Otters throughout Canada in the past.

He added that the loss of a window does affect the safety of the flight.

Earle also told the CBC that measures will be taken to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.
