Rigolet Gets Supply of Gas Following Shortage Scare

The town of Rigolet received a supply of gasoline Thursday following a near shortage of the fuel in the community.

Charlotte Wolfrey is the AngajukKak of the Rigolet Inuit Community Government.

She says they started limiting the amount of gas that could be purchased yesterday.

The precaution was taken after they realized they were down to 6,000 litres of gasoline a couple of days ago.

The MV Dutch Runner arrived in the community with 20,000 litres of the fuel Wednesday morning.

Wolfrey says this is the second time the town was low on gas this summer.

The community has been waiting for Woodward’s oil tanker to arrive with a supply of gas this month.

The tanker still hasn’t arrived as of Thursday.
