Two Resolutions Passed at Torngat Housing AGM
Two resolutions were passed during the annual general meeting of the Torngat Regional Housing Association in Hopedale last week.
Margie Fox is the Chair of the TRHA.
She says one resolution that was passed will relocate the head office of the association from Happy Valley-Goose Bay into a community inside the Land Claims Area.
They hope to relocate the office by 2014.
Fox says the other resolution made will require a representative from the Land Claims Area to attend their annual general meetings.
This is compared to the previous requirement of having a representative from the Nunatsiavut Government.
Fox says the provincial Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, MHA Patty Pottle, and Nunatsiavut Government First Minister, Darryl Shiwak, were also present for the AGM.
She says the contract between TRHA and the Nunatsiavut Government for the construction of homes in Nunatsiavut communities will be signed this week.
