Vale Awards Four Scholarships to Inuit Post-Secondary Students
Four Inuit post-secondary students were the recipients of Vale’s 2010/11 Scholarship Awards.
Paul Mitchell of Makkovik received a $4,000 scholarship.
He is currently pursuing his education as a Mechanical Engineer at the Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Samantha Rice, also of Makkovik, received a $1,000 scholarship.
She is currently attending post-secondary pursuing a career in the health field.
Chloe Harris and Jerry Kohlmeister, both from Postville, also received a $1,000 scholarship each.
Harris is studying Aviation at the College of the North Atlantic.
Kohlmeister is studying Carpentry, also at the CNA.
Sophie Ford, the Aboriginal Affairs Supervisor with Vale, says they never received any applicants from any of the other Inuit communities.
She hopes to see more applicants next year.
