Winter Fuel Price Freeze Lifted

The freeze on fuel prices in Nunatsiavut has been lifted.

The Public Utilities Board lifted the price freeze in Northern Labrador on Thursday.

The price of gasoline and stove oil has seen a substantial increase.

The price of gasoline has increased by 17.5 cents a litre from nearly $1.40 to almost $1.58.

Consumers went from paying $32.11 for five gallons to paying $36.15.

Stove oil has gone up by a little over 18 cents per litre.

Just yesterday Nunatsiavut residents were paying $1.23 for a litre of the fuel.

Today they are paying $1.41 per litre of stove oil.

Fuel prices will now be adjusted every Thursday, if necessary, along with the rest of the province until the price freeze goes back into effect.
