Nunatsiavut Government Can Now Revisit Uranium Moratorium
The Nunatsiavut Government now has the ability to revisit the moratorium on uranium mining, milling and processing inside of Labrador Inuit Lands.
The moratorium was put in place by the Nunatsiavut Government in April, 2008.
The three-year moratorium was to be in place until at least March 31, 2011.
The Nunatsiavut Government now has the ability to review or repeal the moratorium.
There is a lot riding on the decision of the Nunatsiavut Government in this matter.
Several exploration companies have claims in the Central Mineral Belt.
Aurora Energy Resources has spent the last three years trying to demonstrate how uranium mining can be done in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
