Voisey’s Bay IBA Up For Discussion in Nunatsiavut Communities

The Voisey’s Bay Impacts and Benefits Agreement is up for discussion in Nunatsiavut communities this week.

Theresa Hollett is the Impacts and Benefits Coordinator for the Nunatsiavut Government.

She says there are public information sessions being held in each of the communities.

The sessions are being carried out in partnership with Vale Newfoundland and Labrador.

The two groups are presenting on the Impact and Benefits Agreement Report for 2010.

Hollett says the sessions are going well in each of the towns they’ve visited so far.

The information sessions have already been held in Rigolet, Postville and Makkovik this week.

She says residents have been asking questions about employment, winter shipping, air quality and the tailings spill.

Their next session takes place Thursday evening at the Nunatsiavut Government’s board room in Nain if the weather conditions allow for the presenters to get into the community.
