CAI-Nunatsiavut Marine President Discusses Vessel Delays
There have been a series of delays for freight shipment since the new shipping season began.
This regions new freight vessel, the MV Dutch Runner, has already encountered multiple delays.
Dave Chaulk is the CEO and President of CAI-Nunatsiavut Marine.
He says the Dutch Runner had to turn back during its first run up the coast because of problems with the vessel’s propeller.
He says the vessel was forced to turn back again last week.
The Dutch runner made it as far as Rigolet and turned back again to load supplies for Natuashish.
The community had run very low on food supplies.
Chaulk says the Dutch Runner now seems to be in good operating condition.
The MV Northern Ranger also ran into mechanical problems this season.
The crane gave out during the vessel’s first trip up the North coast.
Chaulk says both vessels are now back in working order.
