Fuel Tanker Expected in All Nunatsiavut Communities this Week

Gas stations along the north coast are receiving higher amounts traffic than usual this week as consumers anticipate the lifting of the price freeze on fuels.

The price freeze will be lifted once suppliers are able to ship fuels into Nunatsiavut communities.

Woodward’s Group of Companies’ oil tanker is expected to visit all North coast communities this week.

Rod Woodward is the Manager of the gas station in Nain.

He says the oil tanker is expected to arrive in Nain sometime this week.

Woodward did not provide an exact date.

Communities as far North as Makkovik and Hopedale have already received new fuel supplies.

The decision to lift price freeze is made by the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities.

The board makes adjustments to fuel on Thursdays, if necessary.

Consumers in Nunatsiavut will find out if the freeze on fuel prices is lifted on Thursday.
