Group of Makkovik Hunters Narrowly Escape With Their Lives
It was a close call for a group of Makkovik residents over the weekend who lost their boat but managed to escape with their lives.
Todd Broomfield was joined by two other people on a seal hunting trip on Saturday.
They were travelling near Cape Harrison when their engine gave out.
Their speedboat began drifting towards the unforgiving shore of the Cape.
Broomfield and his passengers were able to make their way onto a ledge along the cliff that made up the shore.
The group managed to grab a few items as they escaped the boat.
Among the items was a satellite phone.
The group was lucky to be able to find a signal and call for help.
They then had to wait four hours for help to arrive.
