Marine Shipping Getting Back on Track

Marine shipping on the North coast is getting back on track with the chartering of the MV Astron.

A representative for the provincial Department of Transportation and Works says the vessel completed its first trip up the coast on Wednesday.

The Astron arrived in Happy Valley-Goose Bay around noon Thursday.

It will be loading freight and heading back up to ports on the North coast.

The backlog of freight is expected to be cleared with this trip eliminating the need for the chartered vessel.

The MV Dutch Runner is now back on its normal schedule.

The vessel departed Lewisporte on Monday with a full load of freight.

It was scheduled to arrive in Rigolet around noon Thursday.
