Public Hearings Scheduled on Draft Land Use Plan

The Regional Planning Authority for the Labrador Inuit Settlement Area has appointed a commissioner to begin carrying out consultations on a draft Land Use Plan for LISA.

Bob Warren has been appointed the commissioner for the hearings.

He will be responsible to carry out hearings on the draft Land Use Plan in each of the Inuit communities as well as in Upper Lake Melville and St. John’s.

The plan will guide development and the use of land, water and resources within LISA.

The hearings will give beneficiaries an opportunity to express their recommendations and concerns on the draft Land Use Plan.

Those recommendations and concerns will be compiled into a report and submitted to the Regional Planning Authority.

The report will be considered when the final draft of the Land Use Plan is compiled.

The hearings are scheduled to begin in Postville on October 17.

They wrap up in St. John’s on November 2.

Copies of the draft Land Use Plan can be found at your local Nunatsiavut government office.
