Salmon Festival Begins in Rigolet

The annual Salmon Festival begins in Rigolet Wednesday.

Melva Williams is Rigolet’s Community Development Officer.

She says the festival is a three-day celebration filled with games, community feasts, and local entertainment.

The festivities begin this evening with a community parade followed by a giant bingo.

Among this year’s live entertainers are Jacinda Beals, Simeon Asivak and Mike Mitsuk and Son.

Newly-elected MP for Labrador and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Peter Penashue, will also be in town to take in the celebrations.

The festival wraps-up on Sunday with a community supper and fireworks display.
